Young Exmouth chef Lauren Williams raised almost £1,000 for the Huntington’s Disease Association by organising a fun day in Strand Gardens, Exmouth. Here is what she wrote about the day.
When i woke up on Saturday morning and heard the rain, I did nothing but worry and panic. We pulled up at the Strand, at 8am and not one part of me wanted to get out of the car, as the rain was coming down so hard ( just my luck ). Soaking wet, we attempted to set up a gazebo, which didn’t have the correct size cover. To then have a gazebo which wasn’t waterproof along with our final gazebo which of course snapped in the wind. Everything that could have gone wrong, did go wrong..But everything that did go well, couldn’t have gone better!! I
f i didn’t have the support from everybody who came on the day, we wouldn’t of made half as much money as we did. I hope everybody knows how much i appreciate the help to gain awareness of HD! We managed to raise an AMAZING £933.52 for Huntington’s disease- Devon branch charity!!!! With the love of Exmouth i have now put £2,133.63 forward to either help families who are living with Huntington’s or to help find a cure of the heartbreaking disease.
I couldn’t be happier to have such amazing people around me, willing to give their time to help something so close to our hearts. I have just booked my next charity event for the bank holiday weekend next August – Saturday 29th.
Next year will be bigger and better. I am to raise £10,000 by the time I’m 21. A big thank you to everyone that helps me reach my goals, and if anybody would like to book a pitch for next year then please contact me on firstname.lastname@example.org
