War memorial in The Strand Gardens, Exmouth
There’s quite a debate going on over on Streetlife about the war memorial in The Strand. After a £3m redevelopment into a public square, people are unhappy about the use of the space around the memorial, which is Grade II listed and cannot be moved or changed without planning permission. Some want to put railings around it. Others are happy to see the space in use by a wide range of people, from markets to young skateboarders. Next year of course is the centenary of the start of the First World War. Should it be fenced off? You can comment here, or follow the discussion on Streetlife
A new Mediterranean-style restaurant has opened in Exmouth.
El Olivio is run by Ian Spencer and Lotta Blombergsson who moved to Exmouth in February after living on the Greek Island of Naxos for 25 years where they ran restaurants.
El Olivo, on The Strand, at the junction with Queen Street, opposite The Clipper, is a Meze and Tapas Restaurant, offering Spanish and Greek-style dishes.
